3 realistic Chicago Cubs trade packages for Shohei Ohtani
Trade Three
The Chicago Cubs might have to sell the farm in order to get Shohei Ohtani.
If the Chicago Cubs want Shohei Ohtani, they might need to outbid other teams that are trying to get him. There are going to be a bunch if everyone out there knows that he is on the block. There might even be bad teams trying for him.
In order to make a trade like this though, they need to be willing to extend him. They also might want to make sure that he is willing to do so if they were to pull the trigger on a deal like that.
Ohtani might cost half a billion dollars in free agency so it is a major commitment. If the Cubs are a team that he likes, a deal like this might be worth it to make sure he gets in there and comfortable early.
He would obviously know that the Cubs are into him if they made a deal like this. Pete Crow-Armstrong, Kevin Alcantara, and Brennen Davis are their top-three prospects right now. They also do think highly of Caleb Killian and Ed Howard so this is a blockbuster trade proposal.
Ohtani wouldn’t make the Cubs instant World Series contenders quite yet but he would get them very close based on how their roster is constructed right now. He’d be the ace of the staff and their top hitter which is always nice to add.
