3 realistic Chicago Cubs trade packages for Shohei Ohtani

The Chicago Cubs are off to an outstanding start in 2023 based on expectations. They aren’t the Tampa Bay Rays right now or anything like that but they have been playing some really good baseball to begin the year.

Although things have been better than expected, they are still in a spot that makes it difficult to get into the postseason. The National League is so good that they would have to be better than one of the six teams perceived to be the best.

In order to do that, they might want to keep making moves. It’s well into the season now so you can’t expect any free-agent signings but big-time trades can be made.

One thing for them to think about is Shohei Ohtani. Yes, the best player in the league may be on the move if the Los Angeles Angels are out of it by the trade deadline. If the Cubs are still in it, they should consider a big move.

The Chicago Cubs should absolutely consider someone like Shohei Ohtani.

Of course, the Cubs need to still be in it as well for it to be worth it but Ohtani could be the boost that any team in the league needs.

As you probably know, Ohtani is known for being the only true two-way player in the history of the league. He is an elite MVP-caliber hitter and an elite Cy Young-caliber starting pitcher. Nobody else alive has seen anyone do such a thing in Major League Baseball.
