Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons why the front office needs to pay Coby White now
The National Basketball Assocation is evolving and Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is the destination
Stephen Curry’s arrival began an irreversible revolution regarding how point guard play is perceived around the NBA. While there will never be another Steph Curry, Coby White fits that exact mold.
While the Chicago Bulls as a whole haven’t seemed to get the memo, the 3-pointer is king in this era of basketball. AKME must retain Coby White before he hits the market precisely because of this.
His deadliness from beyond the arc has been a major boon for the Bulls. Without his smooth stroke, there is no way that the Chicago Bulls would have had a chance to win against Miami Heat during the play-in loss.
AKME plans to let the market set the price for Coby White, but that is a grave error in my estimation. While they may believe they know what his contract will look like, all it takes is one team to set fire to AKME’s plans.
When you combine his age, his potential, and the clear evolution of his game, Coby White could be set to cash in if other teams are allowed to bid on him. The Association knows that players like Coby White are the future.
The Chicago Bulls are infamous for being cheap, but they should be backing up the Brink’s truck to Coby White’s front door.
What kind of message would it send to the roster as well as the rest of the NBA if we don’t reward the players we develop?
While the front office claims to be all-in on matching offers for Coby White, are they truly prepared to match a team willing to overpay or construct a frontloaded contract? Will Reinsdorf allow it?
Coby has already publicly stated he wants to be here. Bulls Nation wants him here. The Chicago Bulls need him here.
Don’t be foolish, AKME. Give Coby White his bag before he hits the market, or you may live to regret it.
