Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons why the front office needs to pay Coby White now
Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is only 23 years old with a high ceiling and a clear love for the game of basketball
The transformation of Coby White seemed to happen overnight.
I can’t pinpoint the exact game where I realized it but watching him simply felt different. He was under control. His decision making drastically improved while maintaining the threat to score at all times.
Most surprisingly, his effort on defense improved by leaps and bounds. While Coby White will likely never be known as a defensive stopper, he did become a very willing defender.
He noticeably improved at fighting through screens and tracking his man off the ball. The effort speaks volumes. The Chicago Bulls have to be thrilled with the clear passion that Coby White has shown for his craft.
Chicago Bulls guard Coby White was given the chance to put his full game on display in the second-to-last game of the season against the Dallas Mavericks with LaVine, DeRozan and Beverley resting.
He responded with one of the best games of his young career, posting a double-double while providing a tantalizing glimpse of his future.
Coby White’s season ended after the Chicago Bulls’ play-in loss to the Miami Heat through no fault of his own. He nearly won the game with his confident shot-making ability and hustle on defense even though his mid Head Coach took him out when it mattered.
White is typically thought of as a pure scorer, but his distribution skills have come a long way. He may not be a prototypical point guard; however, with Lonzo Ball’s future in question, the Chicago Bulls cannot afford to let Coby White test the market.
