Controversial trades the Chicago Bears could make in the 2023 NFL Draft: A trade up for DL Jalen Carter
At this point, I don’t know one person who is more ready to stop hearing the name Jalen Carter thrown around than the man himself. There have been countless rumors and reports as to where the Georgia defensive tackle is going to be drafted, and it’s one of those stories fans are ready to stop hearing about.
Sure, the situation he was involved in off the field that led to a teammate being killed in a car crash is very serious and indeed tragic. But, Carter was not intoxicated, cooperated with law enforcement and was simply on the scene when it all happened. He wasn’t the reason a teammate and friend passed away, but he was there participating in a pair of cars driving way too fast.
Still, Carter has seemed professional and taken this all in stride. He is arguably the most physically-gifted player in this entire draft class, too, and the Bears’ defense would be totally transformed by adding him.
If Carter is there at no. 5, the Bears would have to think about moving up. Poles is all about value, and if he’s smart, he’ll recognize just how much of a generational talent this guy is. Falling out of the top four picks would mean Carter is instantly a steal, no matter where he goes. Trading up for his talents could be the move that shakes up the draft for Chicago.
