Chicago Bears Rumors: This draft day trade could shake up the league
Whenever it is NFL Draft season, there are plenty of rumors that swirl around the league. That is no different for the Chicago Bears who started the off-season with the first overall pick.
As you know by now, they traded down with the Carolina Panthers and have the night overall pick. There are new reports coming out now about the potential for the Bears to move back again.
On ESPN’s Waddle and Silvy, NFL Insider Todd McShay had some very interesting things to say about the draft. He brought up the idea of the Bears trading back again.
The team that was brought up was the Houston Texans who have the 12th pick in the draft. He talked about how they might like to come up to nine if there is still a quarterback on the board that they like and they don’t take one with the second overall pick.
The Chicago Bears might be able to move back for more assets again.
For the Bears, that would also mean that plenty of great players are still on the board as they are only moving back three spots. That is also coming with a couple of other picks that they’d be getting for trading back. A second-round pick could be included.
This would be a good idea for the Bears. It would be good because they’d be getting some extra assets just to move back a few slots. They also need help everywhere so they don’t have just one position in mind.
Can you imagine if the Bears got another second-round pick and then some for this 9th pick just to go back to 12 from 9? With all they got for pick one, you would probably consider that a Ryan Poles masterclass in only his second year as Chicago Bears GM.
From 9-12 in the draft, it can go in any order so the Bears might even be able to get the player they want the most if they made this move. You just never know with the draft which is why it is so exciting.
It sounds, based on this clip from Todd McShay, that anything can happen for the Chicago Bears. As long as they start to build sustained success, everything should be on the table.
