A month and a half ago, the Chicago Bears sent shockwaves throughout the NFL when they traded the number 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers.

Bears fans were thrilled with the move, as the team landed a true alpha wide receiver in D.J. Moore, plus a ton of draft capital to work with going forward. Since that deal was made, questions have arisen in regards to another potential move back.

General manager Ryan Poles has proven to be someone that will take full advantage of value when it’s there, and if that means another big trade is on the horizon, then so be it.

We might be closer to that possibility now, after ESPN’s Adam Schefter went on a live broadcast Monday and gave us all a huge report about what he’s hearing when it comes to the quarterback position in the first round of this year’s draft.

The Chicago Bears may have another opportunity to shake up the 2023 NFL Draft

“We’ve heard quarterbacks go 1, 2, 3, 4… in this draft, that’s not going to happen, I believe.”

Schefter went on to say that he doesn’t expect a quarterback to be drafted second or third overall, meaning we could see two quarterbacks go in the top four, and then utter chaos could unfold.

What a situation that could be for the Bears, who now hold the no. 9 overall pick in the draft. Hypothetically, Bryce Young goes number 1 to the Carolina Panthers. Number two overall would have to be Will Anderson to the Texans, if they don’t take a quarterback. At no. 3, Arizona would have to go with Jalen Carter, one would think. Despite the question marks, that seems to be the logical pick, unless they go edge rusher in which case it would be Tyree Wilson.

From there, the Colts take another quarterback at four, and most would bet that it’ll be C.J. Stroud, although they do love Anthony Richardson.

Then, you have Seattle, Detroit, Las Vegas and Atlanta before the Bears pick at nine. Seattle and Detroit seem content with Geno Smith and Jared Goff for this year. Las Vegas just gave Jimmy Garoppolo a big deal.

Atlanta could take a quarterback, for sure. But then, you still have one top-four quarterback left at no. 9.

You better believe Poles is trading that selection, if the draft unfolds that way. And, with that pick going toward the final top-tier quarterback in the first round, the Bears will get another haul of draft capital.
