3 former Bears players we’ll be glad are gone and 2 we’ll wish stayed
With the 2023 NFL Draft fast approaching, there are a lot of decisions to be made for the Chicago Bears. This team had the worst record in the NFL last year and is now trying to build it back up.
Of course, that will always cause a team to let go of good players and bad players. The nature of the business isn’t always fun but it’s the way it has to go sometimes.
Chicago hasn’t had sustained success for a long time so anybody should really be movable but there are always going to be players that people enjoy watching.
Over the last 12 months or so, there are some players that moved on that were fan favorites. These are three players Bears fans will be happy are gone and two they will miss:
Player 1 we are happy to see gone – Roquan Smith
Roquan Smith was a great Chicago Bears player but it’s good that he’s gone.
Roquan Smith ended up being traded to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2022 season. This was after some dispute over a long-term contract extension.
He ended up showing up to the Bears and playing for them but no extension was ever reached. Before the season was even half over, Chicago moved on knowing they couldn’t make him the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL.
It wasn’t nice to see him leave in terms of a good player going but it was nice to see that they didn’t overpay to keep him.
They found better linebacker value over the last offseason with some of their signings so nobody is going to miss Roquan Smith all that much. He also didn’t really fit the timeline of this rebuild either so it is just better for everyone to see him gone.
