Blackhawks News: The 2023 Draft Lottery odds are set

All season long, Chicago Blackhawks fans have been watching the standings just hoping to finish as close to the bottom as possible. This year’s draft lottery is going to be just a tad bit different than most of them.

That is because of the fact that Connor Bedard is expected to be a generational talent that comes in and is one of the best players in the league right away. A franchise will be changed forever when its name is called the winner of the lottery.

Bedard scored 71 goals and 72 assists for 143 points in 57 games played for the Regina Pats this year. He also had 20 points in their 7-game playoff series loss. It was as good of a Major Junior year as we’ve ever seen.

Number-one picks like Nico Hischier, Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Hughes, and Owen Power amongst others are all elite players that can lead their teams to championships. However, there is a belief that Bedard is in the Connor McDavid line of thinking and that is just one step above everyone.

The Chicago Blackhawks would love to have the first pick this year.

The cool thing is that the number two prospect in this draft is also a very good player and he leads the depth that makes this one of the highest anticipated drafts of all time.

That would be Adam Fantilli who just finished his freshman season at the University of Michigan. He became the first freshman to win the Hobey Baker Award since Jack Eichel did it back in 2015. Fantilli will be a great NHL player.

After that, you got studs like Leo Carlsson and Matvei Michkov but there are pros and cons to all of them, unlike Bedard and Fantilli. In five years, we might be seeing the 2003 Draft (the greatest of all time) repeating itself 20 years later.

So which teams are going to be at the top? Well, the odds go based on the reverse order of the standings. The Blackhawks came in 30th place so they will have the best odds.

The Chicago Blackhawks will clearly need a little bit of luck to be on their side on this day. The lottery will be held on May 8th so we have a couple of weeks to get ready for it.

No matter what, the Hawks are going to get a really good player but it would be nice to see luck on their side here. Imagine if they lost both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the same season and then replaced them with someone significantly better anyway. That would be awesome.

The 2023 Draft Lottery is always one of the most important dates on the NHL calendar because of how much it can change things for a team. Hopefully, things work out well in the end for Chicago.
