3 teams that make sense for Jonathan Toews in 2023-24
The Chicago Blackhawks are not going to have Jonathan Toews on their team in 2023-24. He is one of the greatest players in the history of the organization and in Chicago sports but he is done in town.
He hasn’t officially retired yet so we have no clue what his next moves are going to be. It is pretty obvious though that he has something left in the tank as he can be a productive middle-six forward in the NHL to this day.
There are plenty of teams out there right now that would give him a very small contract to play for them next year. We don’t know what teams are going to be in the market for a second or third-line center in 2023-24 but you’d have to assume there will be a market for one.
If Jonathan Toews doesn’t actually retire and comes back for another year or two, he would fit in best with one of these three teams:
1. Colorado Avalanche
Jonathan Toews would fit in well with the Colorado Avalanche next year.
The Colorado Avalanche were probably annoyed that the Chicago Blackhawks didn’t end up trading Jonathan Toews this off-season because they could use him for their upcoming playoff run that they are about to go through.
The defending Stanley Cup champions don’t nave Nazem Kadri anymore so their depth at center has taken a slight hit behind the great Nathan MacKinnon. Gabriel Landeskog has also been on the long-term injured reserve all year so the Avalanche could have fit his contract in to end this year.
However, regardless of how the defense of their crown goes, the Avalanche would be a great fit for him if he returns in 2023-24.
