3 Blackhawks that played their last game with the franchise
The Chicago Blackhawks season has officially come to an end. It was an emotional season that will see them with top-three odds in the 2023 NHL Draft Lottery.
They want to make their team better over time but it is going to take a while. That means that some players are going to be leaving over the summer.
There are some players leaving that is going to hurt and some that are going to make sense for the franchise as a whole.
These are three players that have for sure played their last ever game with the Chicago Blackhawks:
1. Jonathan Toews
Jonathan Toews’s time with the Chicago Blackhawks is officially over.
Jonathan Toews is the obvious one here. They made a spectacle about his final game in Chicago on Thursday as he is one of the franchise’s all-time great players.
He scored a goal in his final game as the Hawks ended up losing in overtime by a final score of 5-4. He is going to be truly missed as he was the captain for so long and one of the franchise’s saviors.
The Hawks didn’t win a playoff series while Toews was on his eight-year 10.5 million dollar contract but there were still plenty of amazing moments nonetheless. Nobody will ever forget how he was the leader of the greatest core in the history of the franchise.
Toews did not officially retire so we will see if he decides to come back and play for another franchise. It is obvious that he still has plenty of good hockey left in him as long as he is healthy. Regardless, it is the end of an era.
