Day 2 defensive tackle options for the Chicago Bears in 2023 NFL Draft: Zacch Pickens

Pickens is the mold that Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus are looking for at defensive tackle. An athletic, quick player that can get to the quarterback. Pickens weighs in at 291 pounds and ran a 4.89 40-yard dash.

He does a good job pushing opposing lineman, causing all sorts of problems in the backfield. He’s put up 35-plus tackles in his past three seasons at South Carolina. His most recent season in 2022, he put up 42.

Pickens is great at using his hands to fight off blocks and get to the quarterback. His athleticism and size is going to help him tremendously in the passing rushing game.

Draft Analyst Matt Miller likes the fit for Pickens in Chicago, as he’s got the Bears taking him at pick 61.

I think Pickens is a great fit for the Bears, and I could see Ryan Poles taking him. They need an athletic defensive tackle, and Pickens can be just that for them. He’s someone that could develop into a really solid player for the Bears defensive line. He should be available with the Bears first day two pick which is 54th overall. Another solid option for Poles and company.

Defensive line is a huge need for the Bears heading into the Draft, and all of these options would be huge upgrades for the team.
