Chicago Bears Draft: 4 Day Two options at defensive tackle
Day 2 defensive tackle options for the Chicago Bears in 2023 NFL Draft: Siaki Ika
Ika was a true run stuffer at Baylor weighing in at 335 pounds. Similar to Mazi Smith, Ika is someone who eats up space. Despite his weight, Ika is relatively quick. He does a good job holding his own up front and meeting running backs on the cutback.
Ika didn’t have a sack in 2022, but there were multiple times where he forced quarterbacks to make off balanced throws due to his presence. However, 2021 was a different story, as he put up 4 of them. He also possesses a solid ability to bat down passes.
Ika offers a lot of experience. He made an impact dating back to his freshman season at Baylor, where he put up 18 tackles. Since that year he’s gotten better with time.
NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller projects Ika will be picked 71st overall to the New Orleans Saints. That’s past the Bears range, but that could be a good thing for the Bears as they have three picks before the 71st pick.
Ika has the chance to be an above average defensive tackle in the NFL. He’s showcased all of the tools to be one over the years. The Bears are in need of a player like Ika, and he will likely be available if Ryan Poles wants to go that route.
