Ryan Poles could take Skoronski and roll the dice.

Skoronski being a great tackle in the NFL is a gamble. His technique and football IQ could be just enough to overcome his short arms (well, relative to an offensive lineman).

If playing guard is the best position for Skoronski to realize his immense potential, it is not like the offensive line could use as many good players on the interior. Justin Fields was running for his life against the New York Giants and Washington Commandeers because their big defensive tackles were pummeling the Bears’ interior.

Poles could also take Skoronski and then hope the draft board breaks his way in the second or third round to nab another offensive tackle. While the Chicago Bears have many needs, it is not as if adding a couple of offensive linemen would be a bad idea.

Fields was sacked 55 times last season. Hopefully, Fields helps the line in 2023 by getting rid of the ball quicker. He still did not have a lot of time in the pocket so adding quality offensive linemen is a must.

Poles likes to find value and Skoronski’s versatility to play both line positions is a major asset.

There is no debate when it comes to Skoronski being a quality player. The debate on if he can be a great tackle might be enough for the Chicago Bears to pass on him.

If he is the best player available and Poles sticks to that draft thinking of taking the best player, then it might be worth it for Skoronski to be the player Poles takes.
