Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields will finally have the advantage of offensive system stability due to the return of OC Luke Getsy.

It has been well documented how crucial it is for a quarterback to be comfortable in the system they’re running. Fields’ newfound stability will be a key factor in his success this season.

Comfort can have two meanings in an offensive system. Future 2023-24 NFL MVP Justin Fields has never had comfort as a pro due to his first Head Coach Matt Nagy.

Though it was widely believed that the Chicago Bears stole Fields with the No.11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Nagy proclaimed in perplexing fashion almost immediately that Andy Dalton would start.

Fields couldn’t get any meaningful reps with the starters in training camp. When Dalton inevitably was injured, Fields struggled as Nagy never focused on his rookie’s strengths.

This was the first error of system comfort. By refusing to help his first round draft pick, he set him up for failure, resulting in Justin getting annihilated by the Cleveland Browns defense in his first start.

Matt Nagy sealed his fate and was fired at the end of the season along with the rest of the coaches and the entire front office. Enter Ryan Poles, new Chicago Bears GM.

While hiring a new regime was necessary, it unfortunately forced Justin Fields to go through the second error of system comfort: Learning an entirely new system.

Learning two different offenses in your first two years is far from ideal. It explains why Justin Fields started slow last year, but that didn’t stop the naysayers from calling our QB a bust.

New OC Luke Getsy was smart enough to analyze Fields’ play to see what worked and adjusted after the aforementioned Week 6 loss to Washington. The results speak for themselves.

Justin Fields will finally get to go through an entire offseason perfecting his knowledge of an offense instead of learning a new one. Nothing will satisfy me more than his critics who say he can’t throw having to eat crow.

Speaking of Fields spinning the rock, let’s talk about another reason why you can expect Bears passing records to be shattered sooner rather than later: Brand new Chicago Bear D.J. Moore.
