3. Will Smith

Will Smith is someone that could help the center depth of the Blackhawks.

This Will Smith isn’t going to record any albums or appear in any funny sitcoms/movies. He also isn’t going to be one of the very best catchers in Major League Baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers either. Instead, he is going to try to become a very good NHL player.

If the Chicago Blackhawks end up with the third pick, they are probably going to try and pick between Leo Carlsson or Matvei Michkov. However, if they find themselves with the fifth or sixth pick, they could consider Will Smith in the draft.

He is a centerman that comes from Lexington Massachusetts and he became well known as a top draft prospect while playing with the United States National Development Program. Obviously, that organization has had a lot of recent success pumping out NHL players.

In 2023-24, Smith will play for Boston College so he won’t be in the NHL at any point to start the year. If he wants to come out after his freshman year, it might be an option for him depending on the team that drafts him but he may stay for a while.

BC is well known for taking drafted prospects and helping get them ready for the NHL. Will Smith is hoping to do just that at some point in his life.

All of these guys are good players and the Hawks need to make sure that their scouts are doing what they can to be prepared for every possible scenario. Obviously, they want Bedard or Fantilli but these are good options to consider if luck isn’t on their side.
