The Chicago Bears traded the first overall pick for the ninth overall pick amongst other things. It was an outstanding trade but now the team is preparing to use this pick to make their team better. Oddly enough, there might be a player that falls to them that they could have taken at one.

Jalen Carter has had some serious off-the-field issues. He was arrested on March first because of reckless driving and racing charges. Of course, this news is expected to be a big reason why he falls in the first round of the draft.

He is an amazing defensive tackle that went to the University of Georgia. He was a huge piece for them as they won a couple of National Championships. He knows how to play with/against elite players, how to be effective in big games, and how to be disruptive inside the lines.

Before the arrest, he was seen as a guy that could go first overall. At a minimum, he would be the first or second non-quarterback taken. Now, there is thought that he could fall into the lower end of the top ten. The Chicago Bears may not pass on him at pick nine if he is sitting there.

The Chicago Bears may select Jalen Carter if he is sitting there at pick nine.

As you can see from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jalen Carter met with the Chicago Bears on Tuesday. He had previously met with the Philadelphia Eagles and those are the only two up to this point.

His agent (also according to Schefter) claims that they are so confident that he will be taken in the top ten that they are declining any visits with teams drafting outside of the top ten. To be honest, that is a wild move based on the facts.

Would Carter help the Bears from a football point of view? Of course, he would. It is up to Ryan Poles and his staff to decide whether or not he is worth taking with the potential for worse things to come in the future.

It isn’t an easy decision to make by any means. If the Bears did select him, people would have eyes on him from all over both on and off the field.
