Blackhawks News: Another amazing bit of Jonathan Toews news
Most of the storylines surrounding the 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks have to do with losing, where they stand at the bottom of the league, and Connor Bedard. That is also after the team traded away franchise icon Patrick Kane.
Well, Patrick Kane isn’t the only franchise icon that started the year with the team. Captain Jonathan Toews was never traded but dealing with an illness that has kept him out of the lineup since the end of January.
Well, he participated in a couple of morning skates in a row and people started to wonder when or if he was going to be able to return. Now, we know that his return is going to be even closer than we thought.
He is going to be in the lineup on Saturday night at the United Center when the Blackhawks take on the New Jersey Devils. This is going to be a great scene as Toews gets to return on a Saturday night in front of the home crowd against an elite team.
Jonathan Toews will be back in the Chicago Blackhawks lineup on Saturday.
It is an exciting way for the team to end the season as the captain is trying to make a comeback. It will be interesting to see how his conditioning is along with his skills as he hasn’t played in a while. He isn’t taking much time back skating and practicing again before jumping into a game either.
Toews is a veteran on an expiring contract so it isn’t that much of a surprise that the organization is letting him do this. We’ll see how it goes for him.
As mentioned before, Toews is a Blackhawks legend. He should be a Hall of Fame player that has his number retired at the United Center one day.
There is a very real chance that these are the last times that Blackhawks fans get to see him wear their sweater. If he doesn’t retire after this year, there is a very real chance that he plays for a different team in 2023-24.
No matter what, he will always have a special place in the hearts of fans because of what he has helped the team do. It will be fun to see him return once again.
