Jonathan Toews is one of the greatest players in Chicago Blackhawks franchise history. For his entire career, he has been one of the best two-way forwards that the game has ever known. He put up gaudy offensive statistics while being as good on the defensive side of things as anyone.

In addition to that, he is known for being one of the greatest captains that the National Hockey League has ever seen. That is nothing to overlook at all as that leadership was shown to be super valuable on multiple occasions.

In addition to some personal achievements, Toews also led his team to three Stanley Cup championships which is absolutely unbelievable. In addition, he has plenty of international success with Team Canada (Olympic Gold, World Cup of Hockey, etc) to go with it.

Toews will be a Hall of Famer, have his number retired, and will likely have a statue of him that lives forever outside of the United Center. This man is nothing short of a legend in this town when it comes to sports.

The Chicago Blackhawks have had some amazing moments with Jonathan Toews.

Of course, Toews has only this season remaining on his contract. He hasn’t played since January 28th as he is dealing with some Long COVID and Chronic Immune Response Syndrome. Obviously, his health has to come first and foremost.

Despite lots of rumors, we really don’t have a timetable for his return to action. With his contract coming to an end, you can’t help but wonder if this is it.

On Sunday, however, a positive update was revealed. Jonathan Toews has begun skating again while the team was away on a five-game road stand. This is outstanding news for him as the season winds down.

Luke Richardson confirmed the news and added that he could skate with the team at some point this week. That would obviously provide a nice lift to the organization.

It would be cool to send Jonathan Toews off with one final game at the United Center. He may not be able to but it sounds like they are at least trying to see if he can.

What he does beyond this season is a mystery but we can worry about that on a different day. For right now, just be happy with this really positive update.
