3 Blackhawks to trade right when the 2022-23 season ends
3. Petr Mrazek
The Chicago Blackhawks want to move their goaltending in a different direction.
The Chicago Blackhawks didn’t get the best goaltending in 2022-23 but it was slightly better than we thought it was going to be. However, Petr Mrazek should be traded if Kyle Davidson can get literally anything for him.
He did his job in 2022-23 which was to help the team get through the year. He deserves respect for being a good soldier in a tough situation, especially for a goaltender.
The Hawks probably want to start playing their younger guys in 2023-24 more often and there are going to be some new faces to give chances. That means that Mrazek should be shipped off to a new team with one year left on his deal at an average annual value of 3.8 million.
Mrazek can be a good player on a contending team as the backup goaltender. If he backed up someone like Andrei Vasilevskiy or Igor Shesterkin in 2023-24, that would be a great role for him after carving out a really nice career.
All of these players could very much end up back with the team again because their contracts are not up but they should be looking to move all of them if they can find a taker.
