Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Ryan Poles gets selfish and obsessive
By Ryan Heckman
With their final pick in the draft, the Bears add to their linebacker depth. Already with Jack Sanborn, Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, it’s now all up to Poles to find some additional talent to back these guys up, assuming Sanborn earns the starting gig again.
With pick no. 219, the Bears go with Utah linebacker and leader Mohamoud Diabate. The 6-foot-3 linebacker is the type of player Eberflus will love to have in the locker room and on the practice field. His play style is downhill and he can cover a lot of ground in a hurry.
Diabate’s speed is far above average and allows him to go sideline to sideline, similar to a former fan favorite, Roquan Smith. He also knows how to get to the quarterback, coming up with 5.0 sacks over the 2022 season.
Diabate won’t start anytime soon, but he could be an asset on special teams right away as a rookie. His athletic profile is enough to warrant taking a shot on him at this stage, and the Bears would be getting a proven leader who can both defend the run and possesses good coverage skills.
