2367. DeWayne McBride. 4. player. UAB. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. RB

After seeing David Montgomery leave within the division and sign with the Detroit Lions, the Bears went out and signed veteran D’Onta Foreman pretty quickly. While Foreman should be a nice addition for 2023, he might not be a long-term option. Also, the Bears truly need a solid third back other than Trestan Ebner or Darrynton Evans.

Going with UAB running back DeWayne McBride, the Bears spell out the end for both Ebner and Evans, unless they opted to keep four backs on this roster. McBride comes in as a guy who can do a lot of the things that both Montgomery did well, as well as the newly-signed Foreman.

McBride is a smart, patient running back who can run within any scheme, but a zone scheme would see him succeed best. He understands how to allow his blocker set him up for the right cut, and he’ll hit it in a hurry once he sees it.

He isn’t the most prolific pass catcher, but he’ll offer first and second down value, in addition to goal line work. McBride stands 5-foot-10 and weighs 209 pounds, giving him some stout, strong size to his frame. Last season, he ran for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns, averaging a whopping 7.4 yards per carry.
