The Bears stay in the Big Ten and, in the second round, go to the defensive side of the ball. Poles goes after that missing defensive end who gets to join DeMarcus Walker, Trevis Gipson and Dominique Robinson, giving them a group that runs four deep, easily.

Wisconsin’s Nick Herbig is the pick here, and he comes into the pros as a bit light and undersized. He stands only 6-foot-2 and weighs around 228 pounds. However, what he lacks in size, he makes up for in his relentless pursuit. Herbig plays the game in a way that you simply cannot teach. His motor is constantly going and rarely shuts off.

If ever there was a Matt Eberflus type of player, Herbig is that guy. He’s going to be one of Eberflus’ favorite young players from the get-go.

Herbig’s ability to use a variety of moves and angles in his pass rushing is what wins for him, in addition to his motor. He’s acutely aware of how his size impacts people’s perception, which is why he plays so smartly. Herbig finished last year with 11.0 sacks for the Badgers and can offer the Bears a rotational pass rusher with plenty of get-up, and the potential to start with some size added.
