Bears: 3 trade packages that move draft picks for Austin Ekeler
The Chicago Bears could move a player in an Austin Ekeler trade this off-season.
There are a lot of people that think highly of Khalil Herbert. The truth is, however, that he is not the guy to step in and take the role of the number one running back from David Montgomery. He is a good gadget back to use in certain situations but he isn’t that every down player.
Austin Ekeler is that guy as he has proven in his NFL career so far. The Chargers might want a running back in return for Ekeler no matter what his style is which is why a trade like this could work out.
They are better at getting elite talent at this position anyway so it would be fun to see what they came up with after acquiring a guy like Khalil Herbert. You never know, it could be a deal that heavily favors both sides.
There is a future fifth involved in this mock trade as well. The Bears have a surplus of picks and they could use one of them to get a guy like Ekeler.
Are they going to be Super Bowl contenders while having Ekeler in his prime if they got him? Probably not. However, that doesn’t mean that he can’t help the team grow while he is in his prime. This team has a winning problem and Ekeler is a winning player.
