The Chicago Bears could offer different kinds of picks for Austin Ekeler.
In the first mock trade here, the Chicago Bears gave up a second and a seventh. They could offer a similar trade but avoid giving up a second-round pick if the market for Ekeler favors the acquiring team.
In this one, they offer a third and sixth instead and neither pick comes in 2023. The sixth-round pick could be more valuable than the seventh obviously and then on the flip side, they’d be giving a third instead of a second.
Ekeler is an outstanding running back in this league but he isn’t going to land a team more than what the Carolina Panthers got for Christian McCaffrey.
A deal like this could really help the Bears’ offense take a big step. Justin Fields needs to take a step forward in his play and having a good back could take the pressure off his run game.
In turn, his passing game could take a big step forward with a back like Ekeler for two reasons. For one, it would open up the passing game if he had a great running back. Second, Ekeler is an elite receiving running back which would really help. A trade like this should be an easy decision.
