Free Agents the Chicago Bears could sign on Day 2: Orlando Brown Jr., OT

On Day 1, the Bears were one of the last remaining teams in the bidding war for offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey. Ultimately, the Denver Broncos paid him far more than he would have been paid in Chicago. It was actually a bullet dodged for the Bears, if we’re being honest. There was no chance Poles would have paid that penny.

But, there are still quite a few talented tackles out there and the top one overall remains: Orlando Brown Jr.

Brown is by far the best pass-protecting tackle on the market this year, and the Bears should throw him the bag, the blank check, or whatever you want to call it. Poles has the connection with Brown from his time in Kansas City, and with the Chiefs clearly moving on from Brown, he’ll be in a new uniform soon.

Could that be in Chicago?

If he were to sign with the Bears, that would likely mean Braxton Jones makes the shift to right tackle, which wouldn’t be a bad decision by the coaching staff. Brown wants to be paid as a left tackle, and Jones is still young enough to be able to switch around and learn both sides comfortably before settling in.

Bears get a steal in signing LB T.J. Edwards. dark. Next
