Free Agents the Chicago Bears could sign on Day 2: James Bradberry, CB

The Bears still need to add some depth to their cornerback room. Or, they could upgrade it altogether. Last year, Kindle Vildor stepped up and actually played far better than anyone had anticipated going into the season.

Still, he would be much better served as a backup if the Bears could find a way to bring in a solidified starter opposite Jaylon Johnson. Last year’s rookie Kyler Gordon fits a whole lot better in the slot, which is an important position within this defense. If Gordon is afforded the privilege of sticking in the slot, that would be best for he and the Bears.

James Bradberry is coming off arguably the best season of his career at 29 years old, giving up a ridiculously low opposing quarterback rating of 51.6 in 2022 (a career-best) and only two touchdowns all year.

He is a physical corner, like Johnson, and would give the Bear a pair of gritty corners on the outside. Depth would look far better at the position moving Vildor to a reserve, and would take any pressure off the Bears needing to draft another cornerback within the top half of the draft.
