On Day 1 of the NFL free agency period, the Chicago Bears were active, to the joy of fans everywhere.

General manager Ryan Poles began the day by bringing in former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards on what ended up being a steal of a deal. He followed that up by agreeing to terms with former Titans guard Nate Davis, former Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and another former Titan, defensive end DeMarcus Walker.

On Day 2, the Bears haven’t done much just yet. However, that could very well change. Much of the league is awaiting the decision by Aaron Rodgers, and once that domino falls (and it will likely fall soon) we could see plenty more action across the league.

Let’s look at a few free agents, still available, that the Bears could take off the board and bring to Chicago.

Cole Kmet broke out last season, finally, and looks like he’s developing into one of Justin Fields’ top targets within the offense. After adding a guy like D.J. Moore, too, Kmet’s usage could skyrocket with him getting even more open looks.

But, finding a running mate for Kmet could give Fields a whole different advantage on third downs and in the red zone. Hayden Hurst has floated around throughout his career, but he’s been an above-average tight end that can catch the ball and get upfield.

Last year with Cincinnati, Hurst caught 52 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns. He’s never gone over 600 receiving yards and has a career-high of six touchdown receptions in a season, thus his price tag could be far lower than some might think.
