Chicago Bulls move into playoff positioning, believe it or not
By Ryan Heckman
After the Chicago Bulls’ win over the Houston Rockets on Saturday, they are now positioned for the postseason.
Well, they are at least in the running for the play-in tournament. Currently, Chicago sits at the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, just a half game ahead of the Indiana Pacers. To say it’s a tight race is an understatement.
Ahead of the Bulls at no. 9 are the Toronto Raptors, and like the race between Chicago and Indy, the Raptors are only a half game above the Bulls as well.
There is a bigger gap between the Bulls and the 8th-seeded Atlanta Hawks, though, as Chicago is separated from Atlanta by 2.5 games.
So, yes, believe it or not, the Bulls are in playoff positioning.
The Chicago Bulls have a tough stretch ahead in terms of garnering additional playoff positioning
Coming up, the Bulls have an incredibly tough stretch of games. If they’re going to stay in the thick of the postseason race, they’ll have to win some difficult games.
Chicago takes on the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night, who sit in the second seed out West. From there, they they host the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves who are also battling for positioning in their respective conference.
Their next three games, thereafter, include one versus the Miami Heat and a pair of games against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. Bulls fans know this well, but if Embiid plays, those games are as good as lost; the Bulls have never beaten Embiid, ever.
If the Bulls can escape those five games with even two or three wins, they should still be within range of the play-in tournament.
Now, whether or not the Bulls do anything in the postseason is another story. It very well could end up just like last season, if not worse, if they don’t make it out of the tourney.
