Chicago Bears Draft: 3 sneaky trade-down scenarios with number 9 pick
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Number 3: The Chicago Bears make a deal with the Washington Commanders
Lastly, the Bears could look at a team like the Washington Commanders. Washington is in need of a quarterback after releasing Carson Wentz. They could re-sign Taylor Heinicke, but he isn’t exactly the franchise quarterback type. He’s been strong for them at times, but the future won’t be built around his services.
If Washington wanted to come up and grab a quarterback, they’d give up a decent haul. It wouldn’t be quite as much as Tampa gave up, but it would be one heck of a return for Chicago.
In this instance, the Bears would yet again end up with an additional first-round pick in next year’s draft, giving them a trio of picks there. They would also get a third-round pick in this year’s draft, giving them another selection to work with right here and now.
The Bears would then have five picks in the first three rounds of the draft this year, with a true number one wide receiver and no need to worry about snagging a receiver early on. With those five picks, the Bears could easily find a couple of starters along the defensive line, a starting offensive lineman or two, and a starting linebacker.
