Xavier Hutchinson, Iowa State

Hutchinson is a dynamic playmaker that offers good speed at the position. In 2022, Hutchinson had 90-plus receiving yards in 9 of his 12 games for Iowa State. He ended the season with 1,171 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. He’s a solid route runner and can win at the line with a variety of moves. He’s got decent speed after the catch when given the space. He does a great job in jump ball situations going up and bringing the ball down. Overall, he’s got a good variety of skills that you want in a wide receiver.

Hutchinson had a solid combine. He ran a 4.53 40-yard dash along with a 1.55 10-yard split. In the shuttle run, he finished with a 4.35. He placed 5th in the 3-cone drill with a time of 6.91.

I see Hutchinson being a middle to late third round pick, with a possibility of slipping to the fourth round. He would be a good option if the Bears decide to prioritize other positions first. He’d be a great fit for the Bears, as he can play  on the outside and in the slot. Very intriguing option if you’re Ryan Poles.

The 2023 Draft class offers a lot of solid receivers. The Bears have playmakers like Herbert, Mooney, Claypool, and Kmet. Adding one of these players to the lineup can help the offense tremendously.
