The 2023 wide receiver draft class offers a ton of talent. As of now, the Bears have two roster locks at the position for 2023: Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool. A young dynamic receiver to compliment them would be great for the offense. Mooney and Claypool are also unrestricted free agents in 2024. The Bears have the opportunity to target a younger receiver and get some long term assurance at the position.

While Chase Claypool has potential to be an above average wide receiver in the NFL, he’s been streaky at times. That’s why having an electric rookie could benefit the Bears offense. Someone who can step up if Claypool Isn’t delivering. 2023 is a big year for Justin Fields and the offense. Surrounding him with another weapon is going to help him tremendously.

Ryan Poles picked a day two wide receiver in his draft in 2022. That player was Velus Jones Jr. While Jones has been a threat on special teams, that hasn’t been the case on offense. Poles shouldn’t be afraid to take another swing at it in this upcoming draft. Jones has potential, but the Bears need someone they know can produce. If they find a player that they like, make him a Chicago Bear.

There could be a ton of gems in this receiver class. Each year we see receivers picked on day two make an impact right away. Let’s take a look at some options for the Bears on day two of the NFL draft.
