Chicago Bears Mock Draft: DJ Moore trade makes things interesting
By Ryan Heckman
At number nine overall, the best player on the board was Texas Tech’s edge rusher Tyree Wilson, and that was a surprise. Many outlets have Wilson going in the top six or seven picks, but with the draft approaching and teams getting more and more quarterback-needy, that could cause the top of the draft to get real interesting.
The Bears get fortunate enough to draft one of the best defensive players in this entire draft, getting a cornerstone piece and phenomenal pass rusher in Wilson.
Wilson stands a towering 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 271 pounds. He has a massive wingspan and overwhelming size for the position. His overall athleticism and length make him a total nightmare for opposing linemen in both phases of the game. He can completely wreck run plays from the start, and makes his hay attacking the quarterback.
The last two seasons at Texas Tech, Wilson has totaled 14.0 sacks and 27.5 tackles for loss. Many scouts and experts say that Wilson has yet to even reach his full potential, physically, and continues to grow into his frame. The ceiling is a top-5 type of pass rusher in this league, and should he hit that, the Bears come away with an absolute steal here.
