Chicago Bears: 3 players to draft with 9th overall pick
The Chicago Bears could consider a versatile player like Lucas Van Ness.
The Chicago Bears probably wouldn’t mind some versatility on the defense either. Lukas Van Ness is someone that they can consider if that is the case. He is out of Iowa and can be a different kind of pass rusher on the defensive line or an edge rusher.
Either one of those things would be helpful for the Bears as they look to rebuild their defense. He should be available right around where the Bears are drafting but he won’t last long after that selection if the Bears passed up on him. This would be a solid pick for Chicago.
Van Ness can sack the quarterback and create pressures at a high level which would be what the Bears are expecting if they made a selection like this. He’d come in and change the way that everyone around him plays right away.
The fact that Matt Eberflus could use him in many different ways might make him an easy target for Ryan Poles and his staff.
There are lots of good players for Chicago to consider with this ninth-overall pick. No matter what, the selection will need to be developed and the clock starts right away. It might not be the first overall pick but they are getting a very good prospect anyway.
