Bears Mock Draft: Trade down twice, land stud OT, and address defense
Round 5 could be loaded for the Chicago Bears this season as it has in the past.
Round Five – Pick 138
The fifth round is a round that the Chicago Bears have done well with in recent years. They are hoping that this trend continues during the Ryan Poles era.
You might remember Penei Sewell coming out of Oregon a few years ago in the top ten of the draft. He was an elite offensive tackle in college and he became a Pro Bowl NFL player with the Detroit Lions in year two.
Well, his brother Noah is coming out of the draft this year. He isn’t as highly touted as Penei but he is still a solid player that also went to Oregon.
He is a linebacker that is looking to become a great player in the NFL like his brother. If the Bears take a chance on him in the fifth round, they might be happy with that move later.
Round Five – Pick 141
This selection is the fifth-round pick in the mock trade with the Indianapolis Colts earlier in the mock draft. Hitting on all of these acquired picks could be huge for the future.
Owen Pappoe, like Sewell, is someone that is hoping to become a great linebacker in the National Football League.
Taking two players at this position is a bit risky but the Bears need help everywhere. Pappoe is someone that could become a great player coming out of Auburn.
If both players were to become good NFL starters, that is something that the Bears can build on with their defense. If they build their defensive front and secondary just as well, the unit as a whole could be much better as soon as next year.
Round Five – Pick 141
Speaking of a good secondary, Rashad Torrence II out of Florida is hoping to help form one of those in the NFL. He is a safety that had a good college career. He might be a diamond in the rough kind of guy at this point of the draft.
