Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Haul for no. 1, alpha wide receiver secured
By Ryan Heckman
With their last pick in the draft, the Bears go with Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who could end up proving to be a tremendous value. The six foot Bell comes to the Bears as a guy who can simply move the chains.
Bell runs great routes and gets in and out of his breaks cleanly, selling defensive backs on one way while moving another. He isn’t going to be an all-world deep threat, but Bell is going to get himself open, and that’s one of the best thing you can do for a young quarterback like Fields.
Last year with the Wolverines, Bell caught 62 passes for 889 yards and four touchdowns. The Bears will have fellow rookie Quentin Johnston, Darnell Mooney, Chase Claypool, Velus Jones Jr. and Equanimeous St. Brown as their other likely five receivers going into the season.
That’s a whole lot of diversity in overall talent. Between speed, size, field-stretching ability and route running, the Bears will officially have a little bit of everything at wide receiver. Bell rounds out the roster while also giving Chicago some special teams experience, too.
