Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Haul for no. 1, alpha wide receiver secured
By Ryan Heckman
Linebacker could look a whole lot different next season, with the only surefire starter returning being Jack Sanborn. Nicholas Morrow and Matthew Adams are free agents, and the Bears could opt to replace one of them with Cincinnati linebacker Ivan Pace.
Pace stands six feet tall, weighing in around 240 pounds, and brings a high motor to the table. His motor is a commonality shared with a couple other draftees here, in this mock, as Matt Eberflus and Alan Williams look for a certain brand of player. Pace plays like he’s shot out of a cannon at times and is all over the field in a hurry. His energy is rarely matched and he could very well step into a starting role right away.
The Bears stay on defense here in the fifth round by going with Western Kentucky defensive lineman Brodric Martin. The 6-foot-5 Martin weighs around 335 pounds and gives the Bears a mammoth up front to plug into their rotation.
He is a big, strong lineman who possesses excellent hand usage. His main style of rush is pretty bland, as he uses mostly power and a bull rush to get through the line. He would be great in short yardage situations and on run-stopping downs.
