Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Haul for no. 1, alpha wide receiver secured
By Ryan Heckman
In the second round, the Bears not only stick on the offensive side of the ball, but also stay with the same school. Chicago goes with TCU interior offensive lineman Steve Avila, who joins his Horned Frog teammate Quentin Johnston on the Bears.
Depending on what the Bears do at center and also with Cody Whitehair, Avila has the ability to line up at either position, giving the team some flexibility.
Avila stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 334lbs, giving him excellent size at the position. He excels with power, especially in the run game. Avila plays with a physical style and temperament, which would be a welcomed addition to the line.
With their second pick in the second round, the Bears once again go offensive line. This time, they take Ohio State tackle Dawand Jones.
Chicago is getting a mammoth of a human being, as Jones stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 360 pounds. He is also an excellent run blocker and plays with an aggressiveness that Bears fans would love to see across this group.
With Braxton Jones, the Bears now have two young starting tackles locked down. Ideally, they address another interior spot in free agency and this group looks much different for the coming season.
