The Chicago Blackhawks weren’t very active on the actual trade deadline day itself but they sure were in the days leading up to it. In fact, they were one of the biggest sellers of any team this season.

Coming in with one of the worst records in the NHL, it isn’t that much of a surprise. They moved on from Patrick Kane which is one of the biggest shockers (even though we knew it was coming) in franchise history. He will always be a legend in town.

They also traded Jake McCabe, Max Domi, Sam Lafferty, and Erik Johnson in addition to a couple of other minor-league players in order to get lots of draft picks.

Some of the team’s best players are now gone. Jonathan Toews and Seth Jones are now tied for the team lead in points with 28. That is not what you want in the NHL unless you are tanking on purpose, of course.

The Chicago Blackhawks have a plan for how they want this season to go.

They have their eyes set on Connor Bedard but Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlson, or Matvei Michkov would also be just fine with them. Building this thing the right way is exactly what GM Kyle Davidson is trying to do.

Now, the show must go on. There is, as a result of these moves, going to be some ugly hockey coming up here. The lineups that are going to come out from the Chicago Blackhawks in the final stretch of the season are not going to be pretty.

There is a great chance that they lose so much that they end up with the worst record in the NHL, or better known as the best lottery odds. It is going to be painful to watch but everyone has to remember the main goal. Adding one of those prospects to their current farm would be insanely awesome for their future.

While they are losing, it will be fun to see what some of the younger players can do. Enjoy Lukas Reichel, Ian Mitchell, and Jaxson Stauber amongst others. Think about the future. It might not seem like it but there are some fun rebuilding years ahead.
