The Chicago Blackhawks have been busy. We all know about the players that they have already traded away. Now, it is Max Domi’s turn. He has been traded to the Dallas Stars as they push to win the Western Conference this year.

Domi revived his career a little bit in Chicago this year after a few down years with other teams in recent seasons. His defense is still suspect while his offense has gotten back to where it needs to be. With that in mind, was anyone able to play good defense on the 2022-23 Blackhawks?

It will be very interesting to see how he fares with the Dallas Stars. They have some studs on that team. Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, Jamie Benn, and Joe Pavelski are the big four that lead them in terms of forwards. However, Tyler Seguin needed a running mate and it sounds like he’s got one.

That Stars team is one of the best in the Western Conference. With the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, and Winnipeg Jets, the Stars are absolutely one of the teams that can get hot and win three rounds to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Max Domi away to the Dallas Stars.

It won’t be easy for them but adding someone like Domi will certainly add to their depth. He has plenty of experience in this league and will bring some of that to this Dallas Stars group.

The funny thing is that Domi was traded to the Stars on his birthday which also happens to be a day when the Stars are in town to play the Blackhawks at night. Sometimes, these things happen in sports. That is what makes it so much fun.

In the deal, the Blackhawks sent both Domi and Dylan Wells to the Stars in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick and goaltender Anton Khudobin. The addition of Khudobin, who has been buried in the AHL this season, is simply a salary dump for Dallas.

Adding another second-round pick is a great idea. Letting go of Domi and taking on Khudobin is a great way to get a second when you’re not going anywhere this year.

This is a big move for Chicago. Another good player, the leading scorer on the team (once Kane was traded) is now gone as well.

The tank is on even more than it already was. Don’t expect a lot of winning in the coming weeks but that could be a good thing too. Connor Bedard would look really good in a Chicago Blackhawks sweater. The other top prospects in the 2023 NHL Draft would as well.
