The Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers had been working on the Patrick Kane deal for multiple days leading up to the big trade on Tuesday.

It went down in the middle of the afternoon but the two teams made it official at night. Of course, the reactions started to really pour in when that happened.

Patrick Kane is a legend in Chicago. He is one of the greatest athletes to ever dawn a jersey that represented the town. Now, he is leaving due to unfortunate circumstances but nobody will ever forget the good times.

Kane and the team both released statements regarding this move and their love for one another. It is something that fans will certainly appreciate even though they might be hurting.

It is obvious that the Patrick Kane era was amazing for both sides.

There is no doubt that Patrick Kane loves the city of Chicago. There is even less doubt that the city of Chicago loves Patrick Kane.

The franchise was changed forever when they selected him with the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. Since then, he has been everything they imagined and more. There have been multiple championships, multiple individual awards, and lots of highlight-reel plays from him.

Although the circumstances of the rebuild made it so that Kane had to be traded away, there is a sense of closure with him and his wonderful tenure with this team. Now, they can do this the right way and he can go have a chance to win elsewhere.

Once the season is over, Kane will be an unrestricted free agent that is free to sign wherever he wants to go. That will certainly be something to keep an eye on.

When Kane retires, there are going to be a lot of Blackhawks festivities that happen to honor him. His jersey will be retired, they will honor him when he makes the Hall of Fame, and there will be a Patrick Kane statue outside of the United Center.

All of these reasons are why there is so much love following this trade. There have been a lot of trades made over the last 48 hours and none of them have been like this when it comes to love. It was amazing having Kane in Chicago for all that time. Hopefully, he had as much fun as the fans.
