3. Patrick Kane secures third Stanley Cup

Patrick Kane finished off the biggest play of the 2015 Stanley Cup Final.

The Chicago Blackhawks had a lot of success with that core that they built in the late 2000s. As they went into the 2010s, they were ready to win a lot. Coming into the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs, they already had two rings with their core and they were looking for a third.

Well, they got through the Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, and Anaheim Ducks in order to meet the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final. Of course, as you know, they won that series in six games to create a modern-day dynasty.

In that series, Patrick Kane became a legend. In game six, with a 3-2 Chicago series lead, it was a very tight checking game that was very low scoring. Duncan Keith scored the first goal of the game which added to his Conn Smythe case. He ended up winning it.

However, the game was saved when Patrick Kane scored to make it 2-0. The Lightning, the highest-scoring team in the league at the time, were pressing hard to tie it. On a break the other way, the Hawks made a great play that led to the goal by Kane.

Brandon Saad skated the puck into the Hawks’ zone out of trouble. He dropped it to Brad Richards who completed “the no-look pass” to Patrick Kane who did not miss the yawning cage. That came in the final seven minutes of the game.

From there, it was obvious that Chicago had its third Cup in six seasons coming. It was also the moment that Patrick Kane became a legend.
