The Chicago Blackhawks might try to get one prospect for Patrick Kane.

Libor Hajek is a defenseman whom the New York Rangers have had a lot of hope for over the years but he has never been able to stick in the NHL for an extended period of time.

For the last handful of seasons, he has gone back and forth between the Rangers and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Now, at 25 years old, the left-shot defenseman has been passed up a bit by other New York Rangers prospects.

New York acquired him from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the deal that sent J.T. Miller and Ryan McDonagh to the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2018. This was a huge move for both franchises for different reasons.

Now, Hajek would benefit hard from a change of scenery. If he were acquired by the Blackhawks, he’d probably be called up to the NHL right away.

The Rockford Ice Hogs might see time with him as well but he is a prospect worth taking if this is in fact going to be an underwhelming deal for the Chicago Blackhawks with Patrick Kane.

Maybe, just maybe, they can turn one of these underwhelming deals into something good. That future sixth-round pick could be valuable too if they find a diamond in the rough for the draft.
