The Vegas Golden Knights might be making cap room for Patrick Kane
The Chicago Blackhawks are a team that is rebuilding. That might lead to them trading the greatest player to ever play for them in Patrick Kane. It is ultimately up to him as he has a no-move clause but plenty of teams would consider a move like this before the deadline.
One team that can all of the sudden afford him is the Vegas Golden Knights. They currently lead the Pacific Division with a record f 34-18-4 for 72 standings points. However, they could be in fourth place in a week as only four points separate 1-4 in the division.
Vegas has been up against the cap for most of its existence as they are very much interested in winning and try to do so at all costs. As mentioned before, on Monday night, they made a move that made it so that they might be able to afford him.
Their captain Mark Stone is injured and they placed him on long-term injured reserve. After the moves they were forced to follow up with, they now have 8.8 million dollars in cap space. That means they are capable of making a big move.
The Vegas Golden Knights would look great with Patrick Kane on their team.
Their window to win is now so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if they go out there and make a huge splash. They traded for Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty, and many others over the years in addition to some big signings like Alex Pietrangelo.
They are all in on winning so trading for Kane would be right in line with how they run their business. Lots of other NHL team fanbases have to wish their team acted like Vegas.
What would it look like with Kane in Vegas? He would fit in on any of their three lines as they produce points by committee. Chandler Stephenson, Jack Eichel, and William Karlsson would all look good with Kane on their wing.
Vegas doesn’t have one player lighting the league on fire but Eichel has the potential to if he just stays healthy. Patrick Kane might really be able to help elevate them all. Stephenson is the only Golden Knights player with more points than Kane this season.
These two teams are playing each other on Tuesday night so we will see how things go here. Patrick Kane may be motivated to play well against them well if he wants this to become a thing. He has five goals in his last two games so it wouldn’t be shocking.
