This is the Chicago Bears’ offseason, and the rest of the NFL is just living in it.

General manager Ryan Poles has a whole lot of power in his second year with the team, as the Bears will have by far the most cap space in all of the league. They also hold the number 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

All of that, and Chicago has what many believe to be their franchise quarterback in Justin Fields.

But, since the Bears acquired the number 1 pick in this year’s draft, there have been never-ending rumors in regards to Fields being traded. Unfortunately, those rumors are not going to stop.

Let’s add another Justin Fields trade rumor to the fold of this Chicago Bears offseason

The rumors can continue flowing, but the fact will remain that the Bears are simply not going to trade Justin Fields. It ain’t happening.

The reason these rumors will continue to swirl, and to build, is pretty evident.

The Bears want to build the value of that number 1 pick more than anything right now. They have two months to do it, so they’re going to make sure as many teams as possible get the impression they could keep that pick.

The value of this pick likely being Alabama quarterback Bryce Young already ensures its value is going to be sky-high.

But, if there are even a couple of teams that might believe the Bears keep the pick and trade Fields, then they’ll be forced to give up a king’s ransom for the selection if they really want it.

This is not going to end in Fields being traded, though. There is a zero percent chance of that happening. The biggest reason why?

Think about just how much is at steak for Ryan Poles, here. Let’s say he abandons Fields, and goes out and drafts his own guy. Fields could go on to succeed elsewhere and Poles’ pick might not work out.

If Poles keeps Fields, and Fields ultimately doesn’t work out, then it’s easy to give Poles a shot at drafting “his” guy. There is a whole lot more to lose for Poles by trading Fields right now, but nobody wants to talk about it.
