Blackhawks: Cole Guttman has his first career NHL goal
The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night which is somewhat of a surprise based on where each team is in the standings. Chicago now has two wins in a row and they both came against teams from Ontario.
The biggest story from the game was the hat trick scored by Patrick Kane. The trade deadline is looming and he is one of the biggest names on the market (if he decides he wants to go). He now has five goals in his last two games which will surely increase his trade value.
Despite this being the biggest news of the night in Chicago, there is another storyline from the game that needs to be talked about. Of course, that is the fact that Cole Guttman scored his first career NHL goal in the win.
It was a pretty big goal as it turned out to be the game-winning goal as it broke the 3-3 tie for good. This is obviously a monumental moment in his life as he has his first career NHL goal. He will get to remember it coming as a game-winner against an elite team.

This was also Guttman’s first career NHL point in his third career game. In 39 games with the Rockford Ice Hogs this year, he has 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points. At 23 years old, he has a chance to carve out a role but it is at least nice to see him get his first tuck in the NHL.
Guttman is going to keep getting some playing time here and there down the stretch this season as they head toward the finish line. He will have a chance to impress the people in the front office of the Chicago Blackhawks and this game was a good one for him in that department.
Hopefully, as his career goes along, he plays well enough to keep getting chances in the NHL. We’ll see if he gets to play in the next game. As the Hawks make trades, there will be more room for him in the lineup. His next game could come on Tuesday when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights.
