Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Big OL trade, no. 1 pick lands a haul
By Ryan Heckman
Going back to defense in the fourth round, the Bears select Tulane linebacker Dorian Williams with pick no. 103. Williams stands 6-foot-2 and comes in as a possible fit in the middle or on the outside. He has the speed necessary to play WILL, which would likely be his ideal fit.
Having played a ton of special teams and contributing as a starting linebacker at Tulane, Williams is one of those guys who just does his job. He plays fast and hard, each snap. His work ethic and mentality would fit nicely next to that of Jack Sanborn, who is another tough-nosed, hard-working linebacker.
Last year, Williams tallied a whopping 132 tackles including 8.5 for a loss and 5.0 sacks. He also picked off two passes, defended seven and came up with two forced fumbles. Again, he’s all over the place, very similar to a Sanborn type, just a bit faster.
If you thought the Bears were done at wide receiver with the Rice selection, think again. Once again, they go wide receiver here in the fourth round and select Nebraska’s Trey Palmer.
The 6-foot-1 Palmer isn’t going to blow you away with his size or strength, but more so his gamebreaking speed. Palmer wins over the middle consistently and can be a solid deep threat in any offense. He presents a difficult matchup in the slot, because of his speed and shifiness.
Palmer spent three years at LSU, but transferred to Nebraska last season and took full advantage of his new start, totaling 71 receptions for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns.
