Maybe it would just take one first-round pick for the Chicago Bears in this deal.

The Chicago Bears need to help Justin Fields. It should be the most important thing to them if they are going to keep him in an attempt to win with him. That is why doing what they can to protect him and give him weapons should be considered the highest priority this off-season.

Tee Higgins is likely to be better than any player they draft with a future first-round pick. Although you truly never know, it is a risk worth taking to make sure Fields doesn’t go through the troubles that he went through in 2022. It was a good year for him in a lot of ways but he needs help to advance his game.

Chicago’s 2023 first-round pick certainly isn’t getting traded one-for-one for a receiver because it is the first overall pick. Because they believe they have their franchise quarterback in place, it is almost certain that the pick will be traded for a big-time haul that includes more first-round picks.

With the way the NFC is right now (especially in the North), a good off-season could get the Bears in contention as soon as next year if they are wise. It is unlikely but it isn’t out of the question if they play their cards right. Acquiring a receiver as good as Higgins would certainly be doing that.
