Chicago Bears: 5 best free agent wide receiver fits
Jakobi Meyers, Power Slot, New England Patriots
There are two reasons that come to mind in terms of why the Bears should go after Jakobi Meyers.
The first, he is one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL. With a career yards per route ran vs. man of 2.05 and drop rate of 4.5%, Meyers is dependable through and through.

He has really emerged as the Patriots chain mover in the last two seasons. In other words, that guy they could go to on those money downs.
It’s hard to say the Bears had someone like that last season. Which is why it’s logical why Poles would be interested in him.
Meyers can no doubt raise the floor of this receiving core. I am just not sure if he is adding any game changing qualities to it.
He is more solid than dynamic. That said, I still believe he can help us figure out what Fields is as a passer.
Most would agree that Fields needs to be quicker to hit those easy buttons in the shorts and intermediate parts of the field.
The problem is that Fields didn’t really have anyone he could rely on in those situations. Mooney and Claypool are more vertical receivers.
That is what is most alluring about Meyers. The Bears would be signing him to unlock an aspect of Fields’ game that we haven’t seen yet.
Poles will have to ask himself if Meyers is the best route in achieving that because he will most likely be one of the most expensive free agents on the market.
