Chicago Bears: 5 best free agent wide receiver fits
Darius Slayton, Deep Threat, New York Giants
The Giants coaching staff was praised for making chicken salad from chick bleep with their receiving core all throughout the 2022 season.
I am here to make the argument that this group of pass catchers isn’t that bad, at least one player isn’t.
That player is Darius Slayton. Slayton has had a rocky road during his time in the Big Apple. He came on strong and overachieved as a 5th round rookie. Then, somewhat stalled out after that.

This year, he rebounded, becoming the Giants leading receiver in yards. Slayton’s ability to separate against man coverage was a huge reason why the offense started to lean on him.
He ranked in the top 20 in yards per route ran against man coverage, which gave the G Men something they didn’t have in anyone else.
That’s why I like how he would fit on the Bears. It’s no secret that this offense struggled when receivers had to get open on their own.
At the very least, Slayton has show he can do that. He has also shown the ability to be a dangerous vertical threat with his 4.39 speed.
Is he a long term answer? No, but he is an upgrade over what the Bears were throwing out there last year. And, an improvement from the cellar to average makes a difference.
